How does the Grassroot Grant scheme work?
Cash-strapped local groups will now be able to apply for grants between £250 - £5000, thanks to *Grassroots Grants .
The scheme is part of a £130 million drive by the government to support thousands of groups and projects, working to improve their local communities.
Local groups including charities, voluntary groups and neighbourhood initiatives, with an annual turnover of less than £30,000 a year can apply.
So whether you want help to put on a community event or social activity, run education classes, help with the costs of sports, IT equipment or venue hire, then apply today.
Youth clubs, parent and toddler groups, football, bowling and badminton clubs, homework clubs, community groups, supplementary schools, older people's social clubs are just some of the types of groups that can benefit.
The Grassroots Grants programme is unable to fund religious, statutory or political activities (but religious groups running community activities such as parent and toddler, or youth activities, can apply).
*Grassroots Grants is a ground-breaking £130million fund managed by the Community Development Foundation and Funded by the Office of the Third Sector. As well as providing much-needed small grants for third sector organisations, the Grassroots Grants programme will also help local funders to build endowment funds.
The £130 million fund, which will run from 2008-2011 will be divided into two parts: an £80 million small grants fund for community organisations; and a groundbreaking £50 million endowments programme to enable local funders to generate additional donations on a matched basis and invest them in endowments, thereby building their capacity to provide long-term funding for frontline community organisations.
